Evidence-Based CME Accreditation Statement

All NJAFP programs are accredited by the American Academy of Family Physicians for either Prescribed or Evidence-Based credit. AAFP credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Prescribed credit is awarded to those educational activities that are based on customary and generally accepted (CGA) medical practice. Evidence-based medicine is the integration of current best research with clinical expertise and patient values. For Family Physicians, evidence-based medicine is of value in making decisions about the care of families and communities. AAFP considers CME clinical content to be evidence-based if it is presented with practice recommendations supported by evidence that has been systematically reviewed by an AAFP-approved EBM source. CME activities receiving the AAFP evidence-based CME (EB CME) designation earn double credit for the portion designated as EB CME. The AAFP's Commission on Continuing Professional Development believes that 2 for 1 credit for physicians will elevate the use and recognition of this type of enhanced CME, and that it demonstrates the added value of CME based on evidence.
