NJAFP Leadership Quoted in New York Times, Star-Ledger, and Others Regarding Pilot to Reduce Administrative Burdens

Filed under:

The NJAFP has announced its participation in a state-wide pilot created by two trade groups - America’s Health Insurance Plans, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association – designed to reduce the burden on physicians’ offices of non-patient care requirements.  Utilizing technology provided by Navinet some of the more time consuming processes, such as claims processing, will be standardized across plans.  In addition, the plans will provide real-time access to data for verification of benefits, eligibility, and other administrative tasks that currently draw resource away from patient care.

NJAFP leaders were quoted in multiple news stories in New Jersey and across the country discussing the potential benefits of the program, and the reason that NJAFP chose to participate.  NJAFP Treasurer, Sal Bernardo, MD, noted that the NJAFP is “looking forward to working within the pilot to provide the plans with feedback that will lead to administrative simplification that is critical to Family Physicians in New Jersey.”  Additionally, NJAFP President Steve Nurkiewicz, and President Elect Tom Ortiz were each quoted in multiple news outlets carrying the NJAFP’s consistent message of the need to reduce the numerous administrative hassles that plague Family Physicians and seem to grow in number and complexity each year.
