The goal of this educational program is to provide family physicians and other health care providers with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently assess and effectively address chronic kidney disease in their patients.
Educational Objectives:
After completing this monograph, participants should be able to:
- Identify male patients who are candidates for assessment with a measurement of serum testosterone levels in order to determine if treatment is indicated
- Recognize the link between hypogonadism and obesity, diabetes, and other chronic conditions
- Articulate the current opinions regarding testosterone replacement therapy and its relationship to prostate cancer
- Follow evidence-based practice for the treatment of hypogonadism
- Employ patient-centered, culturally appropriate communication and shared decision making to identify men with low testosterone and recommend appropriate treatment
