Senate Passes Emergency Legislation to Temporarily Avoid Disastrous Physician Pay Cut

Late in the evening on March 2, the US Senate approved the House-passed bill that extends unemployment benefits, COBRA, the SGR and other payment and benefit provisions.  The bill funds Medicare payments to physicians at the current rate until March 31.  The President immediately signed the bill.

NJAFP Fights Recent Horizon Changes to Payment on 25-modifier

Senate Fails to Act to Stop 21.2% Cut in Medicare Payment

Once again our nation's fractured health care system sits at the precipice of a potentially decimating cut of 21.2% to Medicare physician payment rates scheduled to take effect on March 1. This cut will not only cripple many family physicians, but it will make primary care even more difficult to access for many of our most vulnerable senior citizens.

NJAFP Leadership Quoted in New York Times, Star-Ledger, and Others Regarding Pilot to Reduce Administrative Burdens

The NJAFP has announced its participation in a state-wide pilot created by two trade groups - America’s Health Insurance Plans, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association – designed to reduce the burden on physicians’ offices of non-patient care requirements.  Utilizing technology provided by Navinet some of the more time consuming processes, such as claims processing, will be standardized across plans.

NJAFP Congratulates 32 Practices That Achieve NCQA PCMH Medical Home Recognition With Assistance of NJAFP Through Innovative Pilot Project

The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP) is pleased to announce that 32 practices participating in the NJAFP/Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition Pilot Project, have received national PCMH recognition from NCQA.
