Robert Eidus, MD Presented with the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians’ Chair Award

Trenton, N.J. – The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP) recently presented Robert Eidus MD, with the Chair Award at the NJAFP’s Annual Scientific Assembly in Atlantic City.
The NJAFP, the largest primary care medical specialty society in the state, is a leader in health care practice transformation and advocacy, advancing the specialty of family and improving access to high quality health care for patients.
The Chair Award is one of the most important awards presented each year. It is presented to a person who has dedicated a lifetime of service to both the Academy and the specialty of family medicine. NJAFP honored Dr. Eidus for his commitment to family medicine and unceasing dedication to improving patient care.
For more than 35 years, Dr. Eidus has practiced family medicine. As founding president of the Vanguard Medical Group, Dr. Eidus leads the group’s Cranford office. Prior to the formation of Vanguard Medical Group in 2012, he was in solo private practice in Cranford, NJ.
Dr. Eidus spent the first 11 years of his career in academic family medicine followed by eight years in managed care, serving as medical director of US Healthcare in New Jersey and as Chief Medical Officer of ChoiceCare in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also spent several years in a variety of management positions focused on creating systems to improve the quality of health care. These positions include serving as CEO of Informed Health Decisions, an independent disease management company focusing on women’s health, for four years.
Dr. Eidus has had a long-standing interest in quality and health care outcomes, as demonstrated by his active involvement with the NJAFP and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). A past president of the NJAFP, Dr. Eidus currently serves on the AAFP Commission on Practice and Quality. For more than 14 years, he has also served on the National Committee on Quality Assurance and represents New Jersey in numerous activities to foster patient-centered care.
Dr. Eidus earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Bucknell University in Lewisberg, Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his residency in family medicine and internship at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. Dr. Eidus obtained a master’s degree in business from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Dr. Eidus resides in Jersey City.
